FAQ
What is sexology?
Sexology is the scientific and therapeutic study of human sexuality — everything from desire, arousal, anatomy, pleasure, relationships, intimacy, behaviour, and the impact of culture and psychology on sex.
In my work, sexology means evidence-based education + therapeutic support + practical, embodied tools for real-world change.
ā
What does “somatic” mean?
“Somatic” means “of the body.”
Somatic therapy recognises that the body holds memory, stress, patterns, and pleasure. We work with breath, sensation, grounding, posture, movement, and touch (self-touch or partnered touch — never between you and me) to support nervous-system regulation and sexual wellbeing holistically.
Because your body holds experiences your mind can’t always think its way out of.
Can sessions be covered by health insurance?
Not at the moment. Sex therapy and somatic work are not eligible for rebates in Australia.
If this changes in the future, I’ll update it here.
ā
Do we ever... do anything sexual?
I get this question a lot...
Short answer: No. Long answer: Absolutely not.
Therapeutic boundaries are clear — there is no sexual contact between therapist and client, ever. We may talk about sex, explore sensuality, practice somatic exercises, or use self-touch you guide on your own body — but I remain fully clothed and in a therapeutic role at all times. Safety and consent are core pillars of my work.
ā
What are your qualifications?
I’m a sex therapist and somatic practitioner with degrees in Psychology and Sexology, alongside trainings in reiki, massage, tantra, kink, disability and equine-assisted therapy. I bring a blend of academic training, embodied practice, and therapeutic experience — grounded, empathetic, and trauma-aware. I have volunteer experience with SECCA around sexuality and disability, working with WAAC at Leavers handing out condoms and AoD education, and the Youth Educating Peers Project advocating for youth mental and sexual health. My work blends academic theory, somatic wisdom, research, instinct, and lived experience.

Clients choose me because my approach is warm, practical, embodied, and inclusive — and because I genuinely love this work.

What actually happens with sessions?
Before:
You book online and complete a quick confidentiality and intake form so I can understand what you’re working on and how to support you safely.
During:
A typical session includes conversation, education, guided somatic exercises, breathwork, grounding, and sometimes structured home practices. We talk, explore, and notice what’s happening in your thoughts, emotions, and body.
After:
Some people feel relieved or clearer.
Some feel tender, activated, inspired, or thoughtful.
You may receive reflections, exercises, or things to explore between sessions (only if helpful).

ā
Is this only about sex?
No — it’s about intimacy, identity, connection, safety, expression, and the nervous system.
Sex is a doorway, not the whole room. But sex and relating are a core part of humanity. Your sexuality is connected to every layer of you.
ā
Do I need to be in a relationship to work with you?
Not at all. I work with singles, celibate clients, people in situationships, people healing from breakups, and people exploring their relationship with themselves.
ā
Is online therapy as effective as in person?
Yes — somatic and sex therapy translate beautifully online. You’re in your own environment, able to practice self-touch, grounding, and embodied exercises privately and comfortably. Being in your own space often increases comfort, safety, and openness — especially when exploring sexuality, shame, or embodiment.
Are you queer-, kink-, poly-friendly and trauma-informed?
Yes.
This is core to my practice, not an afterthought.
Your identity, desires, fantasies, or relational structure will never be pathologised.
Is everything confidential?
Absolutely.
Your information and identity are protected.
I follow strict ethical and legal confidentiality guidelines.
ā
What if I cry?
Then you cry. Crying is a nervous-system release — not a problem, not a failure, just part of being human in a safe space. Tears mean your system is releasing something — clarity, relief, grief, pressure, truth.
It’s welcome.
ā
What if I get aroused?
Also completely normal.
We’re talking about sex, pleasure, and the body — arousal is simply a physiological response, not a boundary crossing. You won’t be judged, shamed, or made to feel uncomfortable. We stay grounded, professional, and curious about the body’s signals without acting on them.
ā
How is this similar or different to “normal” therapy?
Similar in that we talk, reflect, explore patterns, and build insight.
It’s trauma-aware, confidential, supportive, and therapeutic.
Different because we include the body. We focus on intimacy, pleasure, sexuality, relationships, and the nervous system. We use somatic tools, mindful self-touch, experiential practices, and practical home explorations to work with sensation, not just thoughts. It’s therapy… but more holistic, embodied, intimate, and honest.
ā
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Some clients work with me for 3–6 sessions for a specific issue; others prefer longer-term support. We move at your pace.
How do I book?
Easy — you can book online through my scheduling link. Once you choose your session type, you’ll receive confirmation, intake forms, and everything you need to begin.
